Visions of the Square
I ENJOYED looking at the old photographs of King’s Square in your Yesterday Once More column of October 7. I think it would be a good idea to incorporate a display of old pictures of the square in the revamp.

• CITY of York Council justify removing the cart tracks on King’s Square on the basis that a Tarmac road was put there in the past.
I would like to draw attention to Stonegate, which was originally covered with round cobbles. These were removed and Tarmac put down.
Therefore Stonegate is also a ‘fake’ and worth nothing.
If the council truly believes traditional stonework designs to be worthless then they also are in every right to remove Stonegate paving as a slip and trip threat using the same reasons.
For this reason the logic the council is using must be countered.
