My kingdom for a horse
10:54am Monday 7th October 2013 in Letters
IT’S amazing that after 523 years of total indifference to Richard III, York and Leicester are fighting like a pack of wild dogs over a bone.
The people involved in the campaign to bring him back to York should put the same effort into collecting money to erect a statue in his memory.
The statue might have him on a prancing horse, depicting the fact he died in battle. The statue could be sited in King’s Square looking towards the Minster, one of the few places left in York he would recognise, and looking into the west to signify the end of the Plantagenet dynasty.
