Comment not justified
Geoffrey Widdows (King’s Square complaint is justified, September 17) does neither himself any credit, nor adds to the credibility of his argument, by his gratuitous and quite unsubstantiated slur on the propriety of elected members of City of York Council when he suggests the King’s Square cobblestones would find their way to a councillor’s property.
In my experience, councillors of all political persuasions strive to do their best for their residents and for the city generally. They give a great deal of their time and effort, and have the best interests of the city at heart, whatever differences of policy might exist between them.
You may not like your councillors or be happy with what they are doing, but it does democracy no good for people to make this sort of unjustified insinuation.
Mr Widdows should apologise.
