Sort this mess out
I have just received the free Your Voice newspaper from City of York Council and read with incredulity that Rowntree Park has been recognised as one of the best in the UK. I recently visited this park with my two young grandchildren and was horrified at the amount of droppings from aggressive geese that were everywhere.
If a dog owner allowed her animal to empty its bowels there a prosecution would quickly follow. But the geese are allowed to destroy this lovely environment with impunity.
A cull should be organised immediately. If it was an infestation of rats they would be dealt with at once with not a word of protest. In this situation, the geese are vermin. The park was given to the city for the benefit of its citizens and children and that is how it should be maintained. After the horrible and dangerous amount of mess on my grandchildren’s shoes and the wheels of my pram I, for one, do not feel able to visit there again until this mess is sorted out.
