Where cuts don’t fall
AFTER the expenses scandal I understood that MPs could claim no more than £24,000 in expenses (on top of their £65,000 salary), so how has it been possible for Hugh Bayley to claim £32,000, Anne Mcintosh nearly £25,000 and Julian Sturdy £47,000 (MPs’ expenses revealed, September 16)?
Where exactly does all this money go? Are we still paying their fuel bills, etc?
In the case of Julian Sturdy, his salary as an MP and his expenses equate to more than £2,000 a week, so I do think he could have paid for a wall clock out of his own money.
These are the people who are bleeding working people dry with all their cutbacks.
I notice they never cut back on their own monies.
We keep getting told that the country needs to save money. So, David Cameron, show us how tough you really are and cut all these expenses down. I won’t hold my breath, though.
