Harvest for world
AT THE Harvest Festival service one of the hymns we sang contains these words: “Long have our human wars ruined its harvest, long has earth bowed to the terror of force, long have we wasted what others have need of, poisoned the fountain of life at its source.
“Earth is the Lord’s, it is our to enjoy it, ours, as His stewards, to farm and defend, from its pollution, misuse and destruction, Good Lord, deliver us, world without end.”
Perhaps these words should be written in large print and placed in the debating rooms of the leaders of all nations and faiths to remind them this world does not belong to them but only held in trust to be handed on to the next generation in a healthy state.
