Counting the cost of bridge closure
A FEW days ago City of York council said it was “getting an independent firm to collate numbers regarding the Lendal Bridge traffic surveys”.
I would have thought that at least one person employed by the city of York council would be able to count past 20 (fingers and toes).
Is this counting by others to prove to the citizens of York that the council is squeaky-clean on figures that can be verified by other interested parties?
Why did the council not get another outside firm to do other surveys? Is it that an outside firm has not yet learned to use the city of York flexible figures, as this council seems to use for their own ends?
This council seems to think it is spending its own money. It is not. This money belongs to the downtrodden citizens of York and should be spent wisely, not wasted by a few councillors.
A quote from my dear wise old dad, who used to say: “A sip of authority often intoxicates, but after the drinking comes the hangover.”
