WHAT a wonderful show was Saturday’s ‘Last Night at the Proms’.
I am sure most people who saw the show will agree, it was one of the, if not the, best show ever and I have been listening to the radio or watching on TV since 1947.
The conducting of the first ever woman conductor, Marion Alsop was unsurpassed, as was the voice of Joyce Didonato; both these American women were charming in presenting their great talents.
Also of course the great Nigel Kennedy, who apart from being one of the world’s best violinists, shows such great humour, not forgetting of course the BBC Symphony Orchestra and singers.
The music in the parks from Wales, Scotland, N Ireland and Hyde Park added to the great entertainment provided on this marvellous evening.
The enthusiasm shown by the audiences proves that real music is still alive and flourishing. Long may it prosper.
