Heading to Harrogate
Where do they get this information? Rougier Street is always congested these days towards Micklegate and Ouse Bridge.
My sat nav still sends me over Lendal Bridge, so any visitor to our city will, if using a sat nav, be sent over the bridge to reach the east side of the city.
Recently, I was shopping at Monks Cross. Instead of my usual route through the city over Lendal Bridge, which would take about 15 minutes from Monks Cross to Acomb, I went round the outer ring road.
What a mistake that was.
This journey took me nearly 40 minutes and I was stationary for much of the time.
Wait until winter when people leave their bikes at home, when it’s wet and cold and Christmas shopping starts.
I will not be struggling into York this Christmas, but will do my shopping else where, possibly Harrogate where you are made to feel welcome with modest car parking charges and an easy route into the centre. I can be in Harrogate in 25 minutes and use less fuel too.
