It doesn’t add up
EVERY year at this time, the council always has a deficit in the budget. It seems as if they want it that way so they have a reason to increase the council tax.
Last year it was £5 million. They did not tell the electorate that they invested £5m in an incinerator.
I always thought council tax was paid to provide services for the community, not for the council to feed its gambling habits with.
If it’s a £3.7 million shortfall this year, why are there so many unnecessary projects on-going: £500,000 on King’s Square, £500,000 on the Minster Piazza, £1.8m revamping Newgate Market, and unknown sums on the Park & Ride at Poppleton plus the roundabout on the A59?
