Buzz words which don’t say anything
DOES the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust not employ any public relations staff?
The story in The Press on Tuesday (Hospital staff face pay cut) implies this is simply a cost-cutting measure designed to hit some of the more vulnerable staff, not doctors or nurses.
The quote from a spokeswoman was a brilliant example of using lots of buzz words – “equity of access”, “consistent quality” – but conveying hardly any real information.
If Patrick Crowley, head of the foundation trust, had been quoted as saying he was taking the same percentage pay cut in solidarity with his valued workforce, then perhaps we’d think this was a fair attempt to address an invidious situation.
