Shocked by rats
WE SPENT a pleasant weekend in York, stopping at the Park Inn in North Street. On Sunday afternoon we decided to sit in the park area to the left-hand side of the hotel over looking the river.
We were disgusted by all the litter and takeaway cartons strewn about. To no surprise with all the litter, there were two rats running about and also a dead baby rat on the grass.
I took a video of the rats on my phone and some photographs of the disgusting state of the park area, which I am sending to City of York Council with a letter of complaint.
For a nice city that relies on tourism for income, you would think that the council would invest in a street-cleansing team.
We did see one street cleaner but he appeared to be more bothered about hiding out of the way to smoke a cigarette than picking up litter.
He stepped over a pizza box in his line of duty.
Also for a tourist city, we could not believe the state of the filthy toilets near the theatre. They smelt as if they had not been cleaned in months.
Apart from that we had a good trip to the nicer parts of your city.
