Why were there no Coppergate signs?
I HAVE had the misfortune to receive a fine for using Coppergate at 7.57am on the August 19.
There were no signs the week before saying the restriction was starting, unlike the Lendal Bridge saga.
On Tuesday morning, when the bridge was closed to private cars, the council put their own workers at each end to tell drivers about it.
I would like to ask the council why the Coppergate time was changed to 7am from 8am and why there were no signs the week before?
I rang the council and one person said the Coppergate bus lane was not starting until the bridge scheme started.
If the people running these schemes don’t know what’s happening, what chance have I of avoiding a fine?
Thanks to City of York Council for making it as clear as mud.
