Mental health worries
3:42pm Tuesday 27th August 2013 in Letters
I WISH I could claim to be surprised that my last letter (Who is driving? August 17) failed to elicit a response from anyone in the driving seat at York health services.
Yet by their own admission the Casper Trials project has received £2.6 million in funding from the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme. The results of these trials are intended to “eventually inform NHS care through commissioning and the next iteration of guidelines issued by NICE”. But not, you will notice, to in any way benefit mental health care in York. Yet in recent months, due to lack of mental health funding and facilities, mentally ill people in York have lost their lives.
So I say to anyone who will listen: “Hey, what’s going on?”
Gareth Papps, Main Street, Stillington, York.
