WITH reference to diabetes cutbacks (The Press, August 16), I hope this does not happen.
As a recently diagnosed Type 1 diabetic, age-related, I find that my GP and practice nurses are excellent, but they are not specialists as they are at York Diabetic Unit.
This is a frightening illness, especially for me as my blood sugars fluctuate so much.
My kidneys are causing concern, which I did not know anything about as I did not think of any symptoms, but the specialist is now monitoring me closely.
We have fantastic doctors, nurses and specialists within the NHS, for which we paid into over our working lives.
We deserve better than this lost treatment. Early treatment could save us – loss of sight, limbs etc costs more in the long run.
Please think again before any cuts are implemented.
