Not a fruitcake recipe
10:02am Friday 16th August 2013 in Letters
DAVID BARKER (Letters, August 14) asks whether it would be all right for him to call UKIP supporters fruitcakes. It would not, because that is 17 per cent of the electorate (most recent Observer/Opinium poll) he is personally insulting.
Bongo-Bongo Land is imaginary, so the only people who exist to take offence are left-wingers determined to take offence on behalf of the imaginary Bongo-Bongans.
Maurice Vassie states that Godfrey Bloom “clearly says... that it is immoral to give help to people who are worse off than yourself”. Of course he said no such thing. But it is crazy for the Coalition to be borrowing £1bn a month in all our names and giving it to Nigeria, which has its own space programme, and India which will soon have two aircraft carriers when we can’t afford one.
If seeing this as a misuse of taxpayers’ money makes someone an immoral racist fruitcake, David Barker and Maurice Vassie had better count on more immoral racist fruitcakes appearing in the future.
Most of the British public agrees with Godfrey Bloom’s main point, if not the precise words he used.
