Addiction can hit all

Thank God for Father Tim Jones (The Press, March 6).

Addiction can strike anyone, regardless of status or circumstances in life. The sooner addiction is recognised as yet another of life’s vicissitudes rather than a manifestation of weakness, perversity or stupidity, the sooner people can acknowledge that it is a misfortune that should be accepted and deserving of respect and help.

Totally agree. Who wakes up one morning and as a rational act says: "today I will become an addict"

It is a desease

Addiction to any substance/habit is indeed a truly misunderstood topic What starts of as a sociable past time can very easily manifest into an addictive compulsion, i have first hand experience of such a dilema. Addiction is not nice and should not be treated with contempt.Addiction does not discriminate, it can take over anyone.
