Party point-scoring

WITH reference to Coun Ian Cuthbertson’s letter of February 27, I wish the political parties would stop trying to score points off each other and get on with what they were voted in for.

I don’t think the Lib/Dems have anything to crow about after all the mistakes they made in the past – and as for putting a tax on green bins, I will do what I did before we got them. I will parcel all my garden waste up in my Tesco carrier bags and put it in the grey bin.

After all, I don’t recycle for my benefit; I do it to help the council.

D Smith, Barbara Grove, Holgate, York.

Recycling is not just to help the council but us all and for a letter that complains about party politics, what follows is an attack on the Lib Dems! A very poor letter.

D.Smith makes a valid point regarding political point-scoring. I will no longer vote for any of the three major parties until they stop their juvenile squabbling. Maybe the party leaders may take note of the votes cast for UKIP and for rank outsiders in the recent Italian elections. SORT IT OUT!

Agreed. Terrible letter.

One of the stupidest things I've ever read.

I agree that we should break the 3 party deadlock, and we can do it at the ballot box...But will we?
Comments closed now on Andy D's letter (Hmmmmmmm) Yes Alexander is an out of touch bully but Andy talking about others closing down debates! Come off it Andy, or does that not apply to the Green climate scam?

Indeed, ColdAs, comments closed on an increasing number of stories and letters.

I'm not going to get all fictional and ridiculously metaphorical like our Scarlet friend but... debate shut down at council meetings? Any criticism (or even the chance of such) shut down here?

Just what is going on?

Who is scared of what?

So, what is the point of debating chambers so that the right solution can be found by discussing the issues of the day with representatives from all residents. A total joke if you call this democracy.
But the Greens, the BBC and the Eco Warriors have used this tactic of consensus (Invisible majority) for a long time now and not even wanting the debate. So, what are they trying to hide?
