Protect your ears

HOW I agree with Stephen Reynolds (Letters, March 1).

I went with a friend to see Les Miserables. Wonderful film, but I plugged my ears with tissue – the only thing I had available. It was also very cold in the cinema we were in.

So be warned; take ear plugs and wear your thermals.

Some films seem to be made to be shown at this painful level of noise, then when they are shown on TV a couple of years later, half the dialogue sounds mumbled and incoherent at normal speaking volume
