Minster right place

WHERE is the dilemma? King Richard III spent the best part of his life in Yorkshire. His supporters in 1483 put on a “second” coronation for him in York Minster.

Why should the last Yorkist king of England be interred anywhere else but the fair city of York?

If he is laid to rest in unimpressive Leicester Cathedral, I am wholeheartedly against it.

I have the happiest memories of my time in the Richard III Society (Norfolk branch), and I wish Richard every blessing in his quest for a fitting final resting place. Loyaulte me lie!

At the time 22,372 are interested enough to have signed the petition at -

rect.gov.uk/petition

As are the two York MPs and the leader of the City of York Council. Unfortunately we have been let down by the Archbishop of York and the Minster authorities, but that could change.

Now 22,449 have signed, Chissy1 is apparently also challenged with regards to his reading ability.

It may be boring and unimportant to you, but not to the 22,472 and rising who have signed the petition thus far.

I do love it when someone comments that those commenting should find something better to comment on. LOL

Then again when they do these digs they actually work out legally what should happen if they did find him, it was agreed before they even dug that he would stay in Leicester. So the Minster's refusal of Richard the third is a legal defence to a document they signed so it's understandable they said no.

Too many assumptions, what evidence is there that anyone at York Minster signed a document giving burial rights to Leicester, and if they did which I doubt, what right did they have to do it without consultation with the closest living descendants?

Chissy doing the usual has inspired me to vote on the E Petition.
Probably many others as well.

The ongoing saga of whether a load of old bones should be brought to York (at what cost?) reminds me of the TV show "Drop The Dead Donkey". With all that is going on in the world is this the best we can do?
