Recycling anger

I WISH to voice my anger over what happened on my street. It was bad enough having to wait weeks for the normal grey bin collection.

But my complaint regards the collection of my recycling. For weeks we have been washing our milk bottles, tin cans, jam jars and all other bits and pieces we put for recycling.

We do this for a reason, don’t we? Yes, it takes extra time and effort, but most people do it.

I put my five boxes of recycling out, awaiting collection. When they arrived, they didn’t bring the recycling truck. They brought a dustbin truck and emptied everybody’s recycling into the back of it.

I am not happy at all about the fact that we make this effort for the environment, while the council appears not to care.

Over the Xmas period I checked the collection dates for my area, there was supposed to be a collection on 2/1/13 this was on the council website on 24/12/12, sometime after that date it changed to just that it would be collected ASAP (words to that effect) what actually happened was that we received 2 grey bin collections in 2 days and the council had to also clean up rubbish from overflowing bins as they had left the collection 3 weeks this grey bin was half full the following day when it was again emptied, if they had left it 2 weeks we would have had another overflowing bin

Have you not watched when the recycling truck comes along? the operatives chuck the stuff from your boxes into the 'kerbsider' floating boxes along the nearside of the vehicle, and every 6-8 houses the kerbsider gantry is then lifted above the height of the truck and the contents emptied into the single void within the truck - so it all ends up in the same place anyway.
