A little confused

First published in Letters by

MIKE Usherwood (Letters, January 16) suggests I am “a little confused on the subject of aircraft landings”.

Since learning to fly in 1942, I have completed several thousand hours as a pilot and carried out several hundred landings, the last just over two years ago.

I am familiar with the quoted facetious definition of a landing and the variations thereon, but do not see its relevance here.

My letter of January 14 simply suggested that the incident reported was a belly landing rather than a crash; Mike Usherwood “seems to be a little confused”.

Buzz Light-year says...

C'mon give the poor guy a break.

The king of curmudgeon sheds his usual misery and cracks a funny and you diss him for it.

Let him have his joke. It was rare.

I thought it was good and would have commented so if it hadn't unfortunately been printed on the same morning as the fatal helicopter crash in London.
