We’re slipping away

RECENT revelations about erosion along our Yorkshire coastline come as no surprise.

The phenomenon of landslip has been present for many a decade and I am reminded of one such area between Reighton and Filey, for example, where the land has been reclaimed, not by foreign invaders, but by the sea.

Recent attempts along the Scarborough coastline at installing granite blocks imported from Scandinavia have acted as a deterrent, but much more needs to be done before the dyke will burst.

How long will it be before land is not available for house building and agricultural land is at a premium?
