YORK LIONS CLUB would like to thank the citizens of York and everyone else who gave our fundraising a big boost in the run-up to Christmas.

The Shepherds Concert Brass Band once again helped tremendously to create a fun atmosphere enjoyed also by the Mayoral party, at which £600 was raised in the city centre on our appeal launch day in October.

A sum of £2,700 was also collected from our house-to-house collections around the city, so a huge thank-you to all those residents who contributed.

The York community benefits from this grand total of almost £3,300, not least around 90 pensioners who enjoyed a Christmas lunch at St Olave’s.
