Hotels parking idea

I READ a lot in The Press about the difficulties associated with visits and staying in York, even with hotels charging visitors who stay overnight. My idea, for what it is worth, is this: put one area of the Park&Ride car parks to one side for use by visitors who stay overnight.

This will help keep cars out of town. I appreciate there could be a security problem, but if only one P&R park were used, a security man could be employed (another job on the market) paid for by a collective charge against hotels that use the facility. It is only a thought, but one that needs exploiting.

A simpler solution would be to drop your suitcases and passengers etc off at the hotel then drive to one of York's many residential streets without parking restrictions (Windmill Rise springs to mind off the top of my head), simply leave your car there then catch a bus or taxi, or even take a pleasant stroll, back to the hotel.
