What a bins ‘disaster’
9:24am Wednesday 9th January 2013 in Letters By Reader's letter
On 29 December you published a letter from me regarding the highly confusing arrangements for those York households due for rubbish collections on January 1.
The reality has proved far worse. Having had no collections in Christmas week or on January 1, our revised date (for black bins and recycling) was meant to be Thursday, January 3. But there was no collection on Thursday or Friday. On Saturday black bins were finally emptied but the recyling had still not been collected on Monday.
Coun David Levene, the council’s cabinet member for environmental services, was completely wrong when he said everything would be caught up by last Saturday.
Recycling bins, many with no lids, have been out in this areas for almost a week, and there are papers and milk cartons all over the place. Even once the recycling is collected, a huge litter pick will be needed.
This is an unmitigated disaster in planning the most basic of council services.
Gareth Morgan Acomb Wood Drive, York.

United we stand, divided there will be rubbish all over the place in future.
Don't let them get away with it, demand an apology from CofYC, they got it wrong!
