Don’t blame musicians

JOHN Ridgeway-Wood certainly deserves an apology for the live music from Duncombe Place which drowned out his bell-ringing on New Year’s Eve (The Press, January 3), but Sally Burns ought to have made it clear that the blame for this “clanger” lies with the organisers, not with The Pauper Kings.

This popular and dynamic group performed before an enthusiastic and joyful audience; but carefully respected tradition by concluding in good time. Even the rapturous applause had died away before the countdown began. Be fair. Do not The Pauper Kings deserve an apology too?

I'll blame whomever the deuce I want. Whether it be some band I've never heard of or those two guys with a tape recorder and binoculars over the road from my office window.

In not doing so, she appears to have attempted to make it unclear who's fault it was ? This is typical of the culture at York Council - blame anyone else, and deny any wrongdoing. Good job they are moving from the St Lewonards Place offices, which is now known as c*ck-up corner ! Are they are moving to Waste(ful) (West) Offices ?
