John’s calendar

REFLECTING on John Shannon of the Civic Trust and his life’s achievements for this city (The Press, December 31), not one person has mentioned his yearly contribution of producing a calendar and the wonderful views of York and seasonal aspects.

I have to find a calendar produced today that has the same impact of showing the highlights of this wonderful city of ours.

Can't say that I ever noticed a cyclist featuring on any of his calendars. Perhaps that's because he used to refer to us as "silent menaces" in the Civic Trust's Annual Reports.
Hopefully these days there is a greater appreciation and encouragement of the vital role played by sustainable travel choices.
