Lament for socialism

IN his letter of 24 December, Mr Rushton seems to imply the last Labour administration was socialist.

Many of us realised that long before Mr Blair created New Labour his party had ceased to embrace socialism, whatever certain individuals within the party try to tell us.

Nowadays, politics has become a career not a calling.

I have said on here and other places, on many occasions, the last decent socilaist leader Labour had, was John Smith who unfortunately died.
