BUTCHER Tony Spencer uncovered a fascinating part of Stroud's retail history while carrying out repairs at his premises in Kendrick Street.
He found old signs for a haberdashers shop called Blinkhorns which appear to date from around 1925.
Historian Ian Mackintosh found Blinkhorn Ltd house furnishers mentioned in a Kelly's business directory from 1935 but there is evidence that the signs may date back further.
Ian also found a separate document from 1925 promoting new property in Stroud which makes reference to Blinkhorns.
