R HARVEY’S letter of December 5 gives me, on behalf of Foxwood Residents’ Association, the opportunity to say a big thank-you to the young men from Community Payback who helped local residents plant 5,000 crocus bulbs in the Foxwood area.

The team were willing and speedy workers and made the day an enjoyable one for all concerned.

They are keen to do more work in the area and as part of our efforts towards York In Bloom we will be using them again.

Are you sure, thought they were doing a community sentence as 'punishment' for criminal activity? If so they are not exactly volunteers are they?
