THE views of Aled Jones don’t often float my boat, but I have to agree with him (Call for compassion, Letters, December 3) on the perils of long-distance transport of animals.

He believes that if we must transport live animals we should allow them adequate leg room, fresh air and refreshment. Retiring from a life of exporting and travelling the world myself, I would ask certain budget airlines to take note of these requirements, too.
