Sentence not strict enough
8:15am Thursday 6th December 2012 in Letters By Reader's letter
THE sentence handed down to the owner of Anne, the tortured elephant, is totally unbelievable.
Bobby Roberts was supposed to look after Anne’s welfare. He or any of his family never made sure she was given her medication for her arthritis; they never saw her chained to leg irons, they never saw her beaten.
Bobby Roberts’s three year conditional sentence is unbelievable. None of us will ever know how long poor Anne was being beaten and chained.
This family should have had a life-time ban on keeping or working with animals.
We should say a big thanks to animal defenders for ending Anne’s torture, and helping her to a better life.
Mr D Fillingham, The Crossway, York.
