WELL done to Ray Barker for providing The Press (Yesterday Once More, November 26) with fine and interesting photographs of the construction of Clifton Bridge in 1963.
The bridge is something that many of us use almost daily without giving any real thought to how it was created.
It deals with heavy traffic travelling across in either direction plus at times a very flooded river with strong currents flowing underneath, which must test the structure to the limit.
We should be grateful to all those who worked on this project.
I see from the photographs that all this was achieved without heavy machinery, hard hats, goggles, steel toe-capped boots and high-vis jackets.
