YORK’S very own “Mr Cycles”, Paul Hepworth, is in favour of the ridiculous idea of a short stretch of bus lane along part of Boroughbridge Road, which will cost a lot but benefit very few.
He was also in favour of the unbelievably stupid cycle track along the side of Clifton Green, which cost thousands of pounds and is still half-baked.
These road ‘‘improvements’’ are about as daft as City of York Council refusing to top up salt bins this winter, but agreeing to have ‘‘free’’ wi-fi in the city centre.
Prudent austerity policy and plans? I think not.
