AS AGE has crept up on me, I have become increasingly immobile and only able to go to one shop per trip into town, which must be where my husband can park at the door.

Then last week I got a blue badge. Great news: I planned to go to three shops in a day, go to cafés, cinema and theatre – and get a life back.

Then three days later, traffic network manager Alistair Briggs comes along saying “shut Davygate to all traffic, foot streets until 5pm, more taxi ranks, better for pedestrians and pavement cafés, visitors, etc”.

Would he please explain how I can then access the city centre as the 30 minutes before the shops shut means once again a one-shop stop?

I would ask Coun Dave Merrett please realise these ‘steps’ have no merit and are a step too far for all shoppers with health problems.
