Church’s loss

WITH reference to the appointment of the new Archbishop of Canterbury, they do say diversification from traditional appointments have their merits.

However, Dr John Sentamu, having left the starting stalls with the bookies blessing, failed in the last furlong. This may prove the Church of England’s loss and our gain.

Meaning no disrespect to the Right Rev Justin Welby – Eton educated and former oil industry executive is not exactly a rags-to-riches story.

Historically, many wars resulting in death and famine have been a contributory factor in religious orders. So are we to assume that a future coalition of faiths will rectify or lay this ghost to rest? I doubt it.
