Talking turkey

I READ Julian Sturdy’s column this week and noted his obvious enthusiasm for the Government’s so-called improvements to education, the police, the NHS and Welfare.

I do hope his enthusiasm turns out to be justified in two years time and is not greeted with the same kind of enthusiasm turkeys have towards the arrival of Christmas.

Not good Wilf but at least he is making a stand against stupid wind turbines.
I should be even more concerned at Philip Hammond trying to destroy our armed forces. Hammond has no military experience what so ever!

Is it really principled politics to jump on a local bandwagon against a few wind turbines?

It's probably a bit harder for politicians to take difficult long term decisions to deal with climate change.

In the future, if their climate change gamble goes pear-shaped,and low lying areas like York will be the first to find out, we (and our children) will remember who chased after a few cheap votes.

yorkshirelad, if you mean Global Warming when you say Climate Change then let me put your mind at rest: The mean temperature of Earth at surface level in August 1997 was 14.34C in August 2012 it was 14.34C. No Accelerating or runaway warming, sorry.
York has flooded for as long as I can remember, take a look at the levels recorded in the Kings Arms. Building in flood plains and lack of drainage maintenance do not help. Rainwater always evens out, only last Spring we were supposed to be having a drought! A wind farm will cost a fortune (£3 Million per unit) look unsightly and produce little. Why?
