Happy to see that Sentamu will stay in York

First published in Letters by

WHILE I understand why the Archbishop Of York might have wished to become Archbishop of Canterbury, I hope he will be comforted by the many people in our area who are grateful we will keep this wonderful man.

I am not a religious person at all, but since I came to live in York I have had the delight and privilege to meet this man. He is so in touch with people from all walks of life, believers and non-believers, that I am sure many others will feel as I do.

Thank you for the person you are, John – just keep doing the good work you do, recognition will come on a wider scale eventually. In the meantime we value you maybe more than you know.

Margaret Vince, Braham Grove, Acomb, York.

It seems that your 'delight and privilege' at meeting him overshadows many of his anti secular and anti gay comments, although I suspect you are just a name dropper who hasn't actually heard any of his lectures.
