Take on bullies

SINCE my school days, technology has made huge strides in communication, from the advent of black and white television to mobile phones.

However, every aspect of any new invention comes at a price and not necessarily in financial terms, but to a person’s good name.

Gone are the days when childish behaviour was limited to name calling.

Now we all face the prospect of being bullied and intimidated through the social network by faceless perpetrators intent on causing the maximum amount of damage to their victim, both by threats or defamatory remarks through Facebook, Twitter, etc.

So might I suggest that action be taken to stop this virus from spreading and the victims bring the offenders to justice by means of statute law covering the laws of libel and slander, and in criminal law, the definition of assaults, physical or otherwise, still applies.

It seems age knows no bounds.
