Wetherby races proved the usual strong attraction on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, and a special train which left at midday was exceedingly well patronised.

The excellent weather was no doubt a contributing factor to the rush to Wetherby, and the consequent possibility of spending a pleasant day without having to travel very far. The stay-at-homes were far more numerous than ordinary, and the streets were busy throughout the morning. The boating facilities were utilised to the full, while pedestrians on the banks of the river were many.

At Bridlington the number of visitors was, of course, limited, but considering the difficulties and the costliness of travel, there were a great many people in the town. The morning and afternoon performances at the Spa and the Princes’ Parade were very largely attended, and the promenades were at times quite well favoured.
