THE North Yorkshire site of the country’s oldest surviving house has been given a listing to help preserve it for future generations.
Star Carr - a Stone Age site near Scarborough - has been listed as a Scheduled Ancient Monument by English Heritage.
The wooden house, which is 3.5 metres wide, was discovered by archaeologists from the universities of York and Manchester last year.
It predates the house previously thought to be Britain’s oldest house in Howick, Northumberland, by at least 500 years. For more information on the site, visit starcarr.com
