EASTER conjures many images and because it is a moveable feast those images can vary hugely.

But with the weekend proving mild, none of us will have taken pictures quite as dramatic as these snowy scenes from 2008. And to prove Easter's ability to surprise, contrast them to the blistering heat of Scarborough sea front the year before.

Some things don't change, though, like the perennial traffic jams on the A64 and while last year's spring was the coldest ever, the famous Farndale daffodils are back on track just as they were during 2007's spectacular display.

That said, if one image says Easter it is eggs and here we have some mouthwatering, rare ones from Terry's and Rowntrees taken in the 1970s.

Because no matter what the weather, our annual chocolate treat is always worth the wait.
