Our recent 1950s photo gallery sparked some discussion on the York Past & Present Group on facebook - specifically around Castle Mills Bridge.
So we've gone back to our archives to find more photos from its reconstruction in the 1950s.
The reconstructed bridge opened 60 years ago this November, after more than two years of work. But it wasn't without controversy....
Drivers said the central wall was initially too high, and it was described at one point as "the most dangerous place in the country".
