CAN anyone identify any of the people in this York photograph, from almost 80 years ago?

Or can you identify where it was taken?

Reader Keith Dales emailed the photograph to us, seeking assistance.

The picture shows a young football team, pictured after a local league victory.

The wording on the ball says: "Acomb - League Champions - 1936/37"

Mr Dales said his father, Albert James Dales, was pictured in the middle row, second from the right, but he does not know who any of the other players are.

He said: "My father would have been approximately 13 and a half at that time. He died in 1977 so I have missed the chance to find details firsthand.

"The photo is 1936/37 League Champions - Acomb.

"I have checked The Press archive for March to April 1937 and suspect this is the Schoolboys League -Division 2 as Acomb were top with games in hand in mid-March and the league finished at Easter."

The photograph was presented in a King George VI Coronation folder.

Mr Dales is keen for any further information about the photograph, including where it was taken, the other people in photo, and whether they all survived the Second World War.

Can you help?

Mr Dales asks information to be sent initially to The Press, so we can pass it on to him. If you have information, email gavin.aitchison@thepress.co.uk
