Reader Christine Walker sent us this photo of a VE Day party taken when she was just seven years old.

“It was taken at the bottom of Marygate opposite the Bay Horse pub,” she writes.

“My maiden name was West. I’m far left dressed as a nurse. My older sister Pamela is the tall lady to the right of me dressed as a Spanish lady and my other sister Shirley is kneeling at the front to the left of a girl with a crown.

“Joan Chapman is to the left of Shirley. Far right is Joan Elgy and to the left of Joan is Doris Corduroy. Doreen Wickes is centre front in a grass skirt, Trevor Sanderson centre back in top hat.

“The party was held in a building in the yard behind the Post Office club in Marygate. The young ones were transported there on a flat trailer pulled by a horse.”

It would be interesting to know how many people, pictured in the photo still live in or around York, Christine added.

It would. So again, if you recognise yourself or anyone else in the photo, contact us with your details and we can pass them on...

Meanwhile, Christine also sent us a second photograph, also taken on VE Day, showing just her and her sisters Shirley, 10, and Pamela, 14. “It was taken in Pearsons Court, where my granny Avery lived,” she wrote.
