3) Poplar trees in St Helen's Road in April 1972, following an unpopular trim by the council, as they were a hazard to buses. One resident said: "The trees are being brutally massacred. They call it pruning but it is a disaster. They look like second-hand totem poles."

6) St Helen's Road in Dringhouses during construction of a link road to Thanet Road in October 1963. Some houses in Railway View were demolished to make way for the link.

8) Firefighters removing water from Railway Pond off Mayfield Grove in October 1991. It was then pumped back in, aerated, after a water bailiff noticed the water quality had deteriorated and fish were in trouble.
