HEALTH bosses in York have teamed up with councillors to remind supermarkets and large retail outlets that tobacco products must be removed from view next month.

City of York Council and NHS North Yorkshire and York PCT said the government legislation which comes in on April 6 will see the banning of tobacco displays in major retail outlets.

Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing, cabinet member for Health, Housing and Adult Social Services, said she gave up smoking 13 years ago and that she welcomed the new law and “the benefits it would bring.”
