Taking steps to keep fit in York

YORK Health Walks are stepping out with a new fitness programme.

The City of York Council initiative will be giving York residents the opportunity to go on fitness health walks.

Councillor Sonja Crisp, executive member for leisure, culture and social inclusion, said: “We already have health walks, dog walks, Nordic Walks and away day walks as part of a busy York Health Walk Programme. Fitness walks are the obvious next step.”

The guided group-led treks will last up to an hour and, as they are set at a slightly faster pace, are aimed to improve fitness and stamina. The Fitness Health walks take place every Saturday at 10am, meeting outside Rawcliffe Bar country park office. Under 16s must be accompanies by a parent or guardian.
