York Nuffield Hospital rated ‘among the best’

A PRIVATE York hospital has been given the highest award possible following an inspection of its risk management and patient safety.

York Nuffield Hospital, in Haxby Road, achieved a level three rating following a visit from NHS Litigation Authority inspectors, the body responsible for reducing accidents in hospital.

Nuffield said the site is the first to gain a level three rating, which applies to every hospital in the group.

Patricia Lee, hospital chief executive, said: “This award reflects the emphasis that Nuffield Hospitals place on offering high quality clinical care. We continually strive to reduce risk and improve patient safety, and the NHSLA accreditation of our UK hospitals shows that we are among the best. Our patients can be reassured that they are being treated in some of the safest and cleanest hospitals in the country.”

Steve Walker, chief executive officer at the NHS Litigation Authority, said: “As the first independent sector provider of NHS care to achieve the highest level of the NHSLA standards at assessment, Nuffield Health should be proud of its considerable achievement which reflects a great deal of effort and a strong commitment to risk management within the organisation.”

I had a shoulder op there on the NHS, I wish I was rich enough for my family to use it all the time.

I've had several tratment courses throughmy work's policy and agree its an excellent organisation.

However, let's not forget that many of the Nuffield consultants also work for York Hospital Trust and also give equally excellent professional care on the NHS.

My experiences with York Hospital(NHS) have been such that I cannot praise them enough.

We are lucky to have such dedicated staff in York whether Nuffield or NHS.
